Alex Horan's Photo

Alex Horan describes what this photo from RENT! School Edition means to her

'This photo is brilliant for so many reasons. First of all, I think it shows everyone in a single shot what the entire cast had to endure for 2 weeks. For the whole process I came into rehearsals full of energy and ready to perform, even before I was cast as Mimi. It perfectly depicts my fun and flirty nature and I should also point out nearly my entire costume was my own wardrobe, is that a bad thing?

Memories from this photo include desperately working on scenes in the dressing room before our official call to try and iimpress Amanda (the director) and the banters we had behind the stage, not to mention a few of the cast members just about crying from the mess we had left all over the dressing rooms, clearly visible in this photo. One cast member even brought a hover in to clean up after us..

Also visible in this photo is Cailean, who played Collins, with whom I formed a lasting friendship with. That was another brilliant thing about this company and this production. Everyone was so close; it made it easy to perform such a difficult piece, because everyone trusted each other. We were all ready to work hard but at the same time have a laugh.

Another memory that springs to mind is the cast all sitting in the dressing room on a particularly rainy day, and there was only about 5 cast members there, so we decided to do the entire show ourselves, by the end we had exhausted ourselves and when the real rehearsal had started, we all realised how extremely stupid we are. So many memories can be taken from the experience, but I seem to have rattled on for quite a bit. Loved Rent to pieces and would do it again in a heart beat. '
