MY Testimonial

Rhian Campbell, 16, Stirling - FAME!

'As I walked into the McRobert grounds I was overcome with nerves ,worried that i wouldn't know anyone. However this was ridiculous as I had done a previous show with YMTS and really enjoyed taking part in the show. As it turned out as I walked in I was greeted with warm smiles and happy people awaiting my arrival which was a relief.

On the first day we played alot of games as to relax ourselves in front of the rest of the cast. This proved first of all quite difficult as there were over seventy cast members so we took up alot of space and we had to concentrate very hard to be able to play the games properly however it seemed to work as we were having fun yet using movement and our acting skills in these games. As well as playing games we learned a song from fame (one for the boys and one for the girls) and a dance. We then had auditions in which we had to sing the song and dance the dance and we were observed by our director (Amanda Stalker), our MD (Craig Miller) and our dance teacher (Karen devil-incarnate - Just kidding!). The auditions lasted the whole day as there were so many of us and the call backs were on the next day.

At the end of the second day the parts had been cast. Some people were disappointed but some were ecstatic as this had been there first ever principle part. Over the next week or so there were some intense rehearsals and everyone was feeling the stress. In the times when we were stressing the cast had one another for support. However there were few times when we were stressing as everyone in the cast kept their concentration and had alot of fun. There were points in the twelve hour rehearsals when people were injured and low on energy and we had the staff there to get our energies back up. It came to opening night and everyone was nervous backstage. As soon as those curtains opened everyone snapped into character it didn't matter how big or small the parts and kept there concentration the whole way through. The energy was kept constant the whole way through. Everything went smoothly apart from a few minor hiccups and everyone was happy with the performance. For the second performance the Hiccups were corrected and the show was well done.

On the final and last performance everyone was a little devastated about the project coming to an end however every single cast member gave it their absolute all to make the last show memorable and exciting for the audience. As we sang the finale there were a few tears and everybody could not believe what they managed to achieve in the last two weeks an amazing show. Looking back on it i'm very glad i did FAME! as the cast that i worked with were amazing as well as the staff. We managed to create a tremendous show as everyone was happy to be there and wanted to do something worth while and everyone made new friends and had alot of fun.'
